Deciding when to pick up the phone and call us to schedule your visit is often something that can cause hesitation. For instance, some patients are unsure when to schedule preventive care visits and how often. Others wonder how long they should allow a toothache to bother them before scheduling an appointment. Rather than leaving your dental care as a guessing game, we suggest you consider some helpful guidelines, so you feel comfortable contacting us and caring for your smile.
Your Twice-A-Year Visits
If you are interested in keeping your smile healthy and avoiding problems like tooth decay and periodontal disease, you need to remain dedicated to consistent preventive care. Fortunately, it’s easy to remember how often and when to schedule these visits. First, make sure you see us twice a year. Second, we suggest you spread these appointments out by approximately six months, so you can get the most out of your visits.
Your Family Visits
Preventive care visits are important for the whole family – even your children. We suggest that you schedule the first dental visit for your child around the age of six months. We will then typically suggest your child follow the same routine as you, seeing us once every six months. This will allow us to monitor development, keep teeth and gums clean, and offer additional services like sealants and fluoride.
Your Something-Doesn’t-Feel-Right Visits
Are you experiencing a toothache? Do your gums feel inflamed? Maybe something just feels different but you are having a difficult time figuring out what’s wrong. We suggest you call us right away when you experience changes with your oral health. If you need help, we can offer effective treatment. If all is well, you will go home with a smile on your face.
