First, we will always take steps to ensure the procedure is comfortable. We can administer a local anesthetic to help patients feel more comfortable. If a patient has dental anxiety, we can also administer a dental sedation such as nitrous oxide or oral sedation, to help patients enter a more relaxed state. They will remain conscious but will also have little to no memory of the procedure. Don’t let your dental fears make you avoid treatment, talk to us today.
First, should a patient have wisdom teeth poised to erupt, we may extract them. These are up to four additional molars that can arrive as a patient enters adulthood, leading to serious complications in some cases. In order to avoid pain, infection, or misalignment, we can simply remove them. We can also remove a tooth that has become loose due to advanced gum disease or suffers from a severe infection or abscess. In rare cases, correcting misalignment means removing a tooth to make room the rest of the smile to be repositioned.
In cases of wisdom teeth, a replacement option is unnecessary. However, should we have to remove a tooth due to damage or infection, we can discuss replacement options. We may be able to restore the gaps in your smile using a dental bridge, partial denture, or possibly even an advanced dental implant. If you have any questions about dental extraction, or about our replacement options, then contact our team today. We strive to help our patients enjoy healthy and whole smiles!
