Dental Care: 3 Reasons You Can Relax

Are you generally a little bit nervous when it comes to thinking about dental care? Perhaps “a little bit nervous” does not even begin to scratch the surface of the significant dental anxiety you experience. If this is the case, you may find that you end up neglecting the comprehensive care your smile needs. True, you may perform wonderful hygiene at home – but are you missing your cleanings and checkups or avoiding restorative treatments because you’re a bit scared? Consider a few reasons you can truly relax and feel confident scheduling a visit with our practice.

Reason #1: Nitrous Oxide

Also referred to as “laughing gas,” this sedation solution is one known for its gentleness (don’t let that fool you into thinking it is ineffective – it will make you feel quite calm). When we say “gentle” we mean that laughing gas will calm your nerves, is safe for most people, and will leave your system before you leave our practice. As a result, it will work during your dental care visit but will not affect the rest of your day.

Reason #2: Oral Sedation

Worried that laughing gas won’t calm your anxiety regarding dental care? No problem – we offer oral sedation, too. In this instance, you will take a swallow-able anti-anxiety pill to help you achieve a deep sense of tranquility. Keep in mind, you will need a ride back to your home after your visit as the medication will require the remainder of the day to fully leave your system.

Reason #3: Our Gentle Approach

Whether or not you’re interested in laughing gas or oral sedation, you may rely on our approach. In some cases, patients waive the offer for sedation altogether because we provide a thoughtful way of practicing dentistry, including the following:

  • Gentle techniques
  • Local anesthetic (if necessary)
  • Compassionate, calm care
