Has your tooth been hurting for several days, weeks, or even longer? In many instances, a cavity will develop without discomfort. Then, as it becomes progressively bigger, discomfort will begin and increase the longer you avoid treatment. For a toothache that results from decay, we typically suggest the dental service known as a dental filling to clean away the decay and replace the missing tissue in your tooth. For significant decay that has damaged too much tissue to restore your tooth itself, we will place a dental crown.
If the discomfort is causing your tooth to throb, it is possible you are suffering from a tooth infection. Unfortunately, you will not be able to clear away the problem on your own with home dental hygiene. Instead, you will need to visit us for the dental service we refer to as root canal treatment. By removing the damaged or infected tissue from within your tooth (called dental pulp), you can say goodbye to discomfort and hello to a rescued tooth.
