Reasons We Place Dental Crowns

The world of restorative dentistry is a vast and interesting one. Have you just begun learning about the variety of treatments we offer to repair damaged teeth (in addition to infections and even missing teeth)? If so, you will find that we have many methods of returning you to a beautiful, healthy smile. When it comes to why we suggest dental crowns, you will again discover that there’s more than meets the eye. In addition to covering a significantly damaged tooth, this restoration offers versatile support for multiple reasons.

Reason #1: To Complete A Root Canal

When you receive a root canal treatment, we remove the tissues and nerves from within your tooth to clear the infection and prevent the need for an extraction. Once we finish and seal your tooth, it may require protection and support. We will accomplish this by placing a dental crown.

Reason #2: To Restore A Damaged Or Weak Tooth

Is your tooth broken? Is it cracked? In either case, the tooth may have become too damaged for other treatments, which means it requires significant structural support or will need to be removed. A crown will restore stability and can prevent further damage.

Reason #3: To Support A Bridge

Have you chosen a dental bridge to replace missing teeth? If so, we will use dental crowns (one on either end of the device) to place it within your mouth. Each crown will be cemented over a natural tooth.

Reason #4: To Improve Significant Esthetic Problems

When cosmetic treatments like veneers, bonding, or whitening will not address a cosmetically damaged tooth, we often suggest a crown. We will customize your prosthetic tooth, which will offer full coverage for a complete tooth makeover.
