Keep Your Family’s Smiles Healthy This Holiday Season

The holiday season is a wonderful time to gather with friends and family, and to celebrate all that the exciting changes the year has brought with it. As you make time to share in these festivities, together, though, it is important that your smile’s care remains a priority. After all, if you want to start next year with healthy and beautiful smiles, it is important to make smart choices throughout the busy holiday season and beyond, in order to protect your family’s total oral health.

Serve Healthy Snacks and Plenty of Water

One easy way to care for your smile is to make sure you continue to eat a well-balanced diet, and one with limited sugar intake. Sugar can contribute to acidic erosion, so being mindful of how much sugar you are eating – or drinking – can help prevent the likelihood that you will develop cavities.

Equally important, though, you should be consuming foods that are rich in vitamins and minerals, which are essential to oral and overall health.

Don’t Skip Out On Dental Hygiene or Checkups and Cleanings

Another easy way to care for your smile is to keep up a diligent dental hygiene routine, which should include twice daily tooth brushing and daily flossing, as well. Both are essential to removing food particles from the surface of teeth, and in between teeth. If you stick to a great hygiene routine, you are less likely to struggle with oral health issues.

Of course, professional preventive dental care is still key. Most patients should visit the dentist twice a year for proper protection.
