Preventive Care For A White Smile?

Have you ever wondered about the best way to keep your smile white? While there are many options out there for treating a yellowed smile, what does one do with a smile that is currently looking quite vibrant? Fortunately, you will be happy to know that helping that smile remain beautiful is simple – just remain dedicated to preventive care! Not sure what we mean by this? Allow us to explain.

Don’t Miss A Beat With Dental Hygiene

If you want your smile to remain white, it is essential that you brush your teeth daily and floss daily according to the recommendations we provide. This form of preventive care will help you keep staining food particles and plaque off of your teeth, so discoloration does not occur (or occurs much more slowly). Consider the following suggestions:

  • Brush your teeth every day, twice a day, making sure your sessions last two minutes each time you brush.
  • Floss your entire smile every single day – no exceptions.
  • Brush after you eat staining foods (like coffee, red sauces, wine, etc.) but do so by rinsing your mouth with water first and then brushing once 30 minutes go by.

See Us Every Six Months (Like Clockwork)

If you’re focusing on exceptional preventive care at home, you will keep your teeth nice and clean. However, even with all of that effort and dedication, you will discover that some amount of tartar will likely form. As a result, you need to come see us for a dental cleaning and a checkup. Do this consistently, every six months, to keep your teeth as clean – and as white – as possible. During your visits, we may offer additional suggestions.
